Pit Stop at South of the Border!

South of the Border is a world famous attraction located right on the border of North and South Carolina. For more than 70 years, travelers have been stopping at this roadside attraction to rest up and have some fun.

South of the Border isn't your average rest stop. It is located right off of Interstate 95 on the border of the Carolinas and don't worry, it's hard to miss. There are hundreds of billboards leading up to it. If you have a long trip planned (especially with kids), I recommend counting the signs to pass the time!

As you approach this Mexican-themed attraction, you will be greeted by a 100 foot statue of Pedro and a massive Sombrero Observation Tower. Once you arrive, you can stock up on fuel, food, gifts, fireworks, and more! There is even an amusement park and reptile lagoon if you need to de-energize your kids for awhile or have some fun yourself. If you're looking for a place to spend the night, there are hotel rooms as well as a RV park and campground.

As someone who has made the grueling drive up and down I-95 from north to south and back, that drive can get really boring and tiresome. If you are planning a long trip, try and work in South of the Border. It is a great place to refresh before hitting the road again. Next time you find yourself between North and South Carolina, be sure to stop by and check it out!
