Exploring Palo Duro Canyon

During my road trip from the west coast to the east coast, I stopped through Amarillo. This cool Texas town is well known for a few things, including the home of the second largest canyon in the United States (after the Grand Canyon of course). We toured this incredible park and saw caught a gorgeous sunset to end the day.

When you enter the park, you're greeted with longhorns! As you drive through, there are a variety of view points to stop at and enjoy the different views of the canyon. There are lots of trails throughout the park to explore hike, bike, or even horseback ride.

Palo Duro Canyon stretches across 30,000 acres and is 800 feet deep. Although there are not many facilities throughout the park, it does offer lodging and a variety of campsites. There is a lot to do here but you can pack it into one day, or two if you want to take your time and hit some trails.

The area surrounding the park is also really peaceful and beautiful to drive through. Texas was the first place I visited on my road trip so it has been very exciting being back! I quickly remembered how many things I miss about this awesome state.

Although this was a "quick" stop for me, I highly suggest stopping by here and spending the day. Comment below if you have any questions!
